HISTORY OF THE BRAND |
||
|
Dacia, the first Rumanian manufacturer of cars, was founded in 1967 with Renault's assistance and Dacia's principal factory was constructed in 1968, in Colibasi (now it is called Mioveni), near Pitesti. You can see the factory here. Location of the factory in Romania
In the following photographies they can appreciate different dependences of the factory:
The first contract between Renault and Dacia was signed in 1966, in a beginning one thought of producing the R16 but it was scorned. From there, Dacia acquired all the tools and basic inputs together with the designs of the Renault 12. Nevertheless up to acquiring the material necessary the company to produce it there was bordered to producing the Renault 8 low it licenses that in those days it was known as Dacia 1100. In August, 1968 it began the production of the Dacia 1100, which was a Renault R8, except for the altar frontal. The first 1100 was an obsequiousness for Ceausescu as the first car made of series of Romania, from 1968 to 1972 produced 44.000 units to themselves with a slight aesthetic change in the altar frontal at the beginning of them 70s. Different aspects of the Dacia 1100 where it is possible to estimate the change of the altar frontal about 1970.

On August 23, 1969, once acquired the whole material necessary for the manufacture of the Renault R12, went out of the line of assembly the first Dacia 1300, which was a R12 with some very insignificant modification, was exposed in Paris and Bucharest. To a little time the Rumanians are charmed with me the modernity and reliability of the car and the list to obtain one of these was really long, for 1970 already there was variety of versions between them the basic version 1300, the version 1300L, and the version 1301SL (SuperLux) that was including amenities as a back moon with electrically unsteam up, radio, windscreen washer, exterior rear-view mirrors in both sides and a more luxurious tapestry. Soon there would be changes for the markets of exportation, so for 1972 one began to make the Dacia 1300 Break, as well as 1300F (one they go without seats, only for load), 1300 prepared for ambulance, and even a version pick-up, of that only we have found a small sketch. Different aspects of the Dacia 1300 included 1300 Break.

In 1974 there was begun the manufacture of the Truck D6 (variant of the Renault Estafette) in quantities limited due to the competition of the BucarestTV -Van, its name was Dacia Estafette. Photographies of a Dacia D6 Stafette
In 1975 one began to make the Dacia 1302, which was not mas that 1300 version pick-up with a reestilyng in the frontal gridiron, from here round beacons were begun to mount in different models.
In the year 1979, in the Autoshow of Bucharest, one presented the Dacia 1310, it was the same Dacia 1300 but with important changes. These changes concerned the frontal beacons, the lights of the back part, the defense was re-designed and a new interior, inherited from the changes of the Renault 12 of 1975, so after a brief series of cars of transition, for 1979 the cars already do not receive rectangular beacons, for what those of 1310 have to be in use in future developments. In the United Kingdom this model was known as Dacia Denem
its characteristics in the version mas equipped they were a manual box of 5 marches, rims of alloy and electrical
windows, its slogan was "
The most acceptable: Dacia Denem " but there could not be
gained the choice of the British market that it chose for Japanese, Korean and Malay cars, the model had very low sales and in limited quantities for what they do not meet great in traffic (though the embassy of Romania in South Kensington, supports a
fleet of 1990). Of this model there were made several variants that included even limousines. Until
it was stopped making it suffered different improvements.

In 1983 the manufacture of the Dacia1410
Sport
begins, a sports version of 1310 destined principally to competition, which would take
be produced for 9 years. The pick-up Dacia 1302 is relieved by the Dacia 1304.

For 1984 they stop making definitively all the variants of the Dacia 1300 and one began to make the Dacia 2000 (variant of the Renault R20), due to
its exclusivity it was mounted in a limited way for what the Dacia 2000 was only a private room for the
party of Elite and the range of colors only was dark blue or black. It was made only for two years, at the beginning of 1986
it stopped its production.
In 1985 the production begins in series of the Dacia 1410 with engines of consumption more moderate that those who were mounting the variants sport and him add 4 doors. The same year a new model appears of pick-up that was the Dacia 1305, it was a 1304 but with some variants so much in the frontal gridiron as in posterior and new engines that were including the GLP.
Dacia 1305
In the year 1986 the Rumanian government suggests the accomplishment of a "micro-car" to Dacia to low cost. Dacia surprises with this curious model, the Dacia 500 Lastun, unique model up to the date, made and designed by Dacia without being a "copy" of a model Renault. It had 3 seats and it was produced by another plant of manufacture located in Timisoara's city. This car was made until 1989 by a poor success, due to the fact that the quality was low, and the car was not good for the needs of a family way. The engine was two cylinders, refreshed by air, with 23 CV, the consumption was of 3 l/100 km, the auto body was done of glass fiber and the maximum speed 106 km/h. The same year stopped the production of the executive Dacia 2000.

In 1987 there appears the model Dacia 1320 that was a re-stylized 1310. This car would be in use for many years as taxi in several countries.
In 1991 the Dacia 1320 suffers another wash of face turning into the Dacia 1325
Liberta, substituting completely the first one.
In 1992 in front of the crushing success of the models pick-up existing there appear two new models who extend this range with variants that were including the double cabin, the capacity jumbo jet for big loads and the traction 4x4, they were the models Dacia 1307 and the Dacia 1309.
Dacia 1309 Jumbo
In the year 1993 the Dacia 1410 Sport manufacturing stops and it was already in 1995 when the Dacia Nova appears. In its first version it was named Dacia Nova 523 for then about the year 1998 to provide it with more powerfull new engines and an auto body break, these were the Dacia Nova 524 GTI and the Dacia Nova 524 Van.

In the year 1997 it stops the production of the Dacia 1325 and one year later, in 1998, also one stops making the pick-up Dacia 1309, since due to its high cost with regard to other pick-up it did not have the sale that was waited in a beginning. Of the chain there continued going out the rest of pick-up that had an amazing acceptance. In this year the Rumanian
mark goes phenomenal, with a few benefits for that nobody was waiting and the same year Dacia obtains the European certification of ISO quality 9001. It seems to be that Renault was waiting for the latter detail to be done by Dacia, and in 1999 the French
company buys most of the actions of Pitesti's factory, happening to be the major shareholder of Dacia. From now
it's when the brand starts expanding towards new and more difficult markets
between which the European is. Already under Renault's direction, in the year 2000, there goes out of the factory the first car that one knows of Dacia to more European style, it was the Dacia Supernova.
Interiors of the SupeRNova. be estimated as the drawers of opening the doors they are the same that continue being mounted nowadays in the Logan.
In the year 2001 one stops making the Dacia Nova for later, in February, 2003, and of form parallel to the Dacia Supernova beginning the manufacture of the Dacia Solenza, a car improved aesthetically with regard to the previous ones and that was essentially a version of the "Supernova", with new altar frontal and back part, and with new design of interiors. The engine is the same of the "Supernova", a 1.4 l. with 75 CV. The car has improved in the construction thanks to Renault, and it has a better equipment with air conditioning, electrical windows, centralized closing, power steering and enclosedly ABS. Surely it is not like a western modern car, but undoubtedly it is less antiquated than the previous models. There were several versions including motorizaziones diesel of 1900 c.c. and during the years that were made it suffered some that another reeestilyng especially in the interior. Images of the Dacia Solenza, in 3 ª image be observed the current steering wheel of our Logan.
Already in the year 2004 there goes out of Pitesti's factory the first Dacia Logan, a berlin that due to its handyd and its economic price added to the reliability of the mechanics of the group Renault, did that it was spreading without problems over the hard European market. A today it continues being commercialized by some re-stylized one. This model stopped forever the production of the Dacia Supernova.
At the end of the year 2004 the models stop it making 1310 and 1410. In 35 years that there was making the series Dacia 13xx, they went out of the plant of Pitesti more of 3 million Dacias 13xx. In the year 2006, coinciding with the disappearance of the Solenza there throws a new model of Dacia Logan that is going to revolutionize definitively the market of the low-cost, a polyvalent vehicle of up to 7 seats that he will be named Dacia LoganBreak or Dacia Logan MCV. The new LoganBreak fuses the concept of family tourism with that of monovolume to create a hybrid in which over everything they give priority to the handyd, the space and certainly, the price. These are the main lines of the whole range Logan and the reason of its success. The Rumanian company met exceeded of requests of this new model up to such a point that in France managed to pay more money for the second hand LoganBreak that for the new ones due to the long waiting-list, almost one year in many French concessionaires. Several aspects of the Dacia LoganBreak
At the beginning of the year 2007 it goes out of Pitesti's factory the last model of pick-up made by Dacia up to the date (though there are prototypes of the Dacia Logan pick-up, a today it has not been commercialized, with which it is not possible to include in the history of the brand), was a Dacia 1307 with double cabin and traction to 4 wheels. This type of vehicle was made for 31 years and 318.959 units were sold. Photography of the last pick-up made by Dacia
Immediately after the cessation of the production of pick-ups
by the part of Dacia, the marketing of one Van begun, it´s based on the
family vehicle of the Logan, and that will be called Dacia Logan Van, one two
seats with the unique powered and a great capacity of load.
In march of 2008 when market launches Dacia of Romania and Bulgaria a new model of what so many hits throughout its history had given him, be called Dacia Logan Pick-up, second commercial vehicle range, after Dacia Logan Van. Reach the Turkish market in July of that year, and will expand to other countries from 2009. Images of the new Dacia pickup.
Dacia with a total investment of 51 million euros, 22 for the specific development of the model and 29 for the production facility, has persuaded the Pitesti factory produces at a rate of between 42 and 60 Pickup vehicles per hour.
Images of the first Dacia Logan pick-up coming off the assembly line at Pitesti.
Dacia's last creation is a totally new model, a compact and younger car, is the Dacia Sandero, which is begun to make in
june of 2008, with this model Dacia
it changes its logo.
At the end of 2008 Dacia
launches a reestiling for both models of Logan, the berlina and the break, in order to adapt them a bit to the appearance of the
Sandero, which provides to them a more modern and improved line, as some changes in the interior.
It is already in the summer of 2009 when it appears the Dacia Sandero Stepway, a variant of Sandero with a single trim level, air sports and focused much more adventurous people. Alloy wheels, fog lamps, high suspensions and roof racks, all series are some of the things that differentiate it from its predecessor.

HISTORY OF THE EMBLEM |
||
|
Evolution of the emblem Dacia.
In 1969 Dacia license of the Renault 12 acquires and begins the model production 1300. Between 1970-1980, Dacia develops the whole model range that several types of vehicles include. After 1978, Dacia does own models derived from the base of the Renault, these took the same emblem, a bit upset the colors, the eagle and the mountain are of silver on black fund and the initials UAP also of silver, but of white color.
When Romania was liberated of Ceaucescu's repression in the year 1991, a new emblem was adopted by Dacia, eliminating the eagle and the mountain, and in its place there was placed in the top part the word "DACIA" writed with letters of white color.
In the year 2000 the Dacia Supernova went out of Pitesti's chain, version improved of Nova, with Renault's support. With the arrival of the new model a new emblem use the first time with a bit of change of color, now the fund of the shield will be blue.
Between 2003 and 2004 there are launched other 2 models, Solenza and Logan, with them there use the first time a new modified emblem, which consists of the same shield used till now of white color with the interior blue fund, in which along 80 % of its extension consists of a remaining training of triangles and 20 % there appears the inscription DACIA with white letters and black edge.
In 2008, with the arrival of the Dacia Sandero the Rumanian brand releases an emblem completely new and different from the used ones till now. With this new logo the alliance Renault-Nissan has wanted to make its bows formed with Dacia, so they have taken the hollow interior of the rhombus, together with the steel representative of Nissan and the form of shield, the blue color and the letters Dacia of the Rumanian brand. In many circles it has provided that to speak and commentaries were heard as "Walks, now the Dacia bring bottle-opener", jokes apart, this logo has been the whole change.
